Melbourne guitarist Stephen Bowtell has managed to absorb the spirit of Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan – mix it up with a bit of Warren Haynes and Joe Bonamassa to produce a unique, modern take on the Blues.
The music is intense, passionate and funky! It’s familiar – yet individual, new and fresh. His outrageously fluid guitar lines definitely impress – Stephen doesn’t just play the notes – he captures the feel!
Primarily self-taught and growing up in a house full of Blues, African Drumming, Middle Eastern groove... and more Blues, Stephen’s passion for guitar and rhythm began at age six. Stephen Bowtell and his guitar have been inseparable ever since! His earliest and most powerful influences were Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and the Allman Brothers.
Stephen began establishing an audience throughout Australia at age 15. He has appeared in the Towradgi Blues Festival, the Australian Blues Festival (Goulburn) and at the Tamworth Music Festival as a guest at the Gibson Guitar Showcase.
